IT Support

The PAL group has a superb opportunity for someone who is starting out, or is already at the beginning of their IT career. We are a group of SMEs based in the West midlands and have a position available to assist and support the Business Systems Manager in maintaining and developing the IT and communication systems within the group. Although an understanding of computing concepts as well as a basic IT knowledge is essential, mentoring and training will be provided for the successful candidate where required.  Knowledge of all the systems/application used is certainly not expected. It is imperative that the applicant has a willingness to learn and desire to develop themselves and their role.

Combining your existing knowledge with the training and mentoring provided, your role and responsibilities will grow to include:

Helpdesk Support
 

  • Telephone support - Field incoming help requests from end users via both telephone and e-mail in a courteous manner.
  • Prioritise and schedule problems. Escalate problems (when required) to the appropriate person.
  • Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications.
  • Identify and learn appropriate software and hardware used and supported by the organisation.
  • Access software updates, drivers, knowledge bases, and frequently asked questions resources on the Internet to aid in problem resolution.
  • Develop help sheets and frequently asked questions lists for end users.

 
Desktop Management
 

  • Workstation builds- build and deploy workstations as required, configured for the company network
  • Hardware upgrades and problem troubleshooting by liaising with third party vendor or helpdesk
  • Software - update; download and managing software installations as required.
  • General software maintenance

 
Server Management
 

  • User account management - add/delete user accounts manage access rights of current users
  • Manage nightly backup - check that backup has occurred correctly and is configured; restore files when staff members have corrupted/deleted the files.
  • Antivirus - make sure that antiviral software is updating the servers and workstations as well as updating the software.
  • Exchange E-Mail server administration and management.
  • Active Directory and Group Policy management.
  • Group drive file store quota management

 
Network Maintenance
 

  • Ensure that when networked equipment is installed/moved that it is given the correct connection
  • Cable management
  • Supplies ordering
  • Practice asset management for IT hardware, software, and equipment.


Salary: £15,000 - £20,000 pa  (offer dependant on experience and qualifications)
